ELC – Educe Language Center
ELC formed in 1997 and ever since then it has continued to grow as a valuable part of Kohgakusha. Native English instructors get assigned to day care schools and kindergartens to conduct English courses that integrate closely to our contracted schools existing curriculum and after-school classes.
The students positive attitude and their abundance of energy reflect positively on ELC’s style of teaching. Each lesson filled with high impact learning, singing and physical activities that create an atmosphere of fun using current learning techniques. Through direct interaction and communication with the teachers, students get to acquire the English language in a more natural and enjoyable way.
Along with daily scheduled lessons, there are several excursions and cultural events planned throughout the year. These events are a great opportunity to get to know the students better and leave a positive impact on their lives about communication and their instructors.
Lesson Types
ELC’s English instructors travel daily to contracted kindergartens and conduct energetic, well prepared and professional lessons in on-site classrooms. There are two types of lessons: Sekia and Kagai.
Seika lessons are held during the morning session, during normal school hours for about 30 minutes per class. Each Seika class has 20 to 35 students between the ages of 3 and 6.
Seika lessons are part of the contracted school and its commitment to instruct English to their students and better their future. Each Seika lesson is fast-paced and combines practical English with fun, that is accessible to all students regardless of ability.
Seika lessons are fun to do, but they also play an important roll in acquisition for the Kagai classes, a mature and professional approach to work and appearance is needed.
Kagai lessons are held during the afternoon session on the premises of our contracted schools. These privately run lessons, conducted after usual school hours, offer parents interested in continuing their child’s language development a more personal approach to learning. Each Kagai lesson has between 3 to10 students, between the ages of 4 to 12, and lesson times are on average 1 hour per class.
During each afternoon session, an instructor will teach up to 3 Kagai lessons. These lessons offer more focused learning and use textbooks to help further students development, but still, keep the energy and fun that Seika lessons have. Open classes are held at the end of each school year to show the students performance to their parents.
ELC’s English instructors are independent and travel directly to and from school by themselves. When lessons are not scheduled for the day, instructors visit the head office to prepare for lessons, take part in training and help with general office duties.
